High School, College, Beach, Professional, Women
How tall is the volleyball net? The height of the net depends on where you are playing. For example, in indoor facilities it is typically 8 feet high and for beach volleyball it’s usually 7 feet. These heights were designed to accommodate different player’s abilities and styles.
If you’re a taller person, then this might not be such a big deal to you but if you’re short, this height difference may make things more challenging for you when spiking or passing over the ball.

Official Regulation Volleyball Net Height
The official regulation volleyball net heights are generally measured in the center of the nets. It will be measured in a similar way for different types of teams.
One must know that the sides of the nets cannot exceed 3/4 inches than the regulation height.
There are differences between the height of men’s and women’s volleyball nets.
Mens volleyball net height
The height varies for both men and women. According to the official rules, the standard volleyball net height for indoors for men is 7 feet. It can be 7 feet or 11 ?? inches or 2.43 meters.
As per the official rules, only the senior citizens or older men falling in the age category of 55-70 or those above 70 are permitted to lower the nets. Other age groups cannot adjust or lower the net to achieve any certain height. The net height for disabled individuals will remain the same as follows.
- Standard Net height for Men’s Volleyball: 7 feet, 11 5/8 inches or 2.43 meters
- Volleyball Net Height for men aged 55-69: 7 feet, 9 5/8 inches or 2.38 meters
- Volleyball Net Height for men above 70 and over+: 7 feet, 6 inches or 2.29 meters
Woman
The net height can be lowered for women above 45 years of age. Similar to men, the net height dimensions for disabling women remain similar. They have to follow similar height dimensions.
- Volleyball net height for Women – 7 feet, 4 1/8 inches or 2.24 meters
- Volleyball Net height for women above the age of 45: 7 feet, 2 1/8 inches or 2.19 meters
High School
High schools play a crucial role in promoting physical health and wellness among young individuals. The high school activities and sports set the standards for these future athletes. The net height may vary for both women and men. There are various competitions conducted in high schools at the international and collegiate levels. The net height at high school is as follows:
- Men’s High School Volleyball Net Height: 7 feet, 11 5/8 inches (2.43m)
- Women’s High School Volleyball Net Height: 7 feet, 4 1/8 inches (2.24m)
The standards height measurements for a volleyball net in a high school have been mentioned above. The height will vary depending on whether it is a men?s competition or a women?s competition. Be it collegiate or the international level, the volleyball net’s height will remain the same as mentioned above.
College
The standard height measurements for college volleyball net height will again follow the same age format. College students do not fall in the category after which there are relaxations, and the height can be lowered. So, the net height will remain as follows:
- Men’s High School Volleyball Net Height: 7 feet, 11 5/8 inches (2.43m)
- Women’s High School Volleyball Net Height: 7 feet, 4 1/8 inches (2.24m)
Beach Volleyball net height
For beach volleyball tournaments, the measurements for the height will be taken at the sand-level. Again, the standard height will vary depending on age.
If the competition is among young adults, the standard heights will be followed. However, if the competition is among seniors or older men/ women, the net height could be lowered.
Beach volleyballs are lighter and bigger than the indoor volleyballs used. The criteria for the net height remain the same; that is, the age. There is no attack line in the beach courts. They are of the size 16 meters X 8 meters.

- Volleyball Net Height for men above 70+: 7 feet, 6 inches or 2.29 meters
- Volleyball net height for Women – 7 feet, 4 and an eighth inches or 2.24 meters
- Volleyball Net height for women above the age of 45: 7 feet, 2 and an eighth inches or 2.19 meters
Indoor volleyball net height
Indoor volleyballs are generally made of leather and are quite heavier in weight. In indoor volleyball matches, the rules for the game are also different. The most significant difference is the court size. It is 18 meters X 9 meters, whereas beach courts are smaller.
Following are the dimensions of the indoor volleyball net height that must be followed:
- Standard Net height for Mens Volleyball: 7 feet, 11 5/8 inches or 2.43 meters
- Volleyball Net Height for men aged 55-69: 7 feet, 9 5/8 inches or 2.38 meters
- Volleyball Net Height for men above 70+: 7 feet, 6 inches or 2.29 meters
- Volleyball net height for Women – 7 feet, 4 1/8 inches or 2.24 meters
- Volleyball Net height for women above the age of 45: 7 feet, 2 1/8 inches or 2.19 meters
The height will be different when it is a sitting volleyball match. Sitting tournaments are generally held on smaller courts. The net height for sitting indoor volleyball matches are as follows:
- For men: 3 feet, 9.2 inches or 1.15 meters
- For women: 3 feet 5.34 inches or 1.05 meters
